Certified Welder

We are seeking a skilled Certified Welder to join our team at Basden Steel. As a key member of our fabrication shop, you will be responsible for performing wire-welding operations on structural and architectural steel members.

• Perform wire-welding operations on structural and architectural steel members, including beams and columns.
• Test for acceptable weldments and ensure high-quality steel structures and parts.
• Use an oxygen/acetylene cutting torch to cut steel members and monitor welding machines for any problems.
• Communicate effectively with workers and other shop personnel to ensure smooth operations.
• Meet welding certification requirements at Basden Steel.

• Able to perform non-precision wire welding in a structure steel fabrication shop at an acceptable rate and quality level.
• Must have an in-depth understanding of layout and all fabrication and processing operations in assigned work area.
• Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and seek clarification on any possible errors and omissions.
• Able to operate an oxygen/acetylene cutting torch and use jigs, hand tools, and measuring devices to produce quality weldments.

This position requires working in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other hazards. The successful candidate must be able to work safely and effectively in this environment.
