Job Overview

QPS is seeking an experienced Industrial Civil Superintendent to oversee on-site construction activities for industrial projects. This role requires strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of industrial construction processes, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Supervision
    • Oversee daily on-site construction activities, ensuring work is completed according to project plans and specifications.
    • Manage and coordinate the work of subcontractors, ensuring that all construction activities are aligned with project schedules and deadlines.
    • Work closely with project managers to develop and update project timelines, ensuring milestones are met.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
    • Conduct regular safety meetings, site inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
    • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
  • Quality Control
    • Oversee the quality of work performed, ensuring that construction activities meet or exceed project specifications and standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections to identify any issues or defects, and work with the team to implement corrective actions.
    • Ensure that materials and workmanship meet the required quality levels, and document all quality control activities.
  • Resource Management
    • Manage the allocation of resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to ensure efficient project execution.
    • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
    • Monitor equipment usage and maintenance, ensuring that all machinery is in good working condition.
  • Coordination and Communication
    • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, project managers, engineers, and subcontractors.
    • Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and solutions to the project management team.
    • Facilitate site meetings to communicate project status, expectations, and any changes to the project plan.
  • Budget Management
    • Monitor project costs, ensuring that the project stays within budget.
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings and work with the project management team to implement them.
    • Approve timesheets, invoices, and other financial documents related to the project.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Superintendent or similar role in industrial construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial construction processes, techniques, and safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage large teams of workers and subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, engineers, and project managers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications.
  • Proficient in construction management software and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites as required.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, CPR/First Aid, Industrial Safety) are a plus.
Experience
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in industrial construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven track record of successfully completing large-scale industrial projects.
Work Environment
  • The Industrial Civil Superintendent will primarily work on-site, often in industrial settings with exposure to various weather conditions, noise, and heavy machinery.
  • This role may require extended hours, including nights and weekends, depending on project demands.
