The Transportation Specialist is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services to patients with emotional or psychiatric disorders. This role requires a high level of professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport patients to and from appointments, ensuring timely arrival and departure.
  • Provide supportive behavior when assisting in the control of patients who exhibit unacceptable behavior.
  • Oversee patient activities and ensure safety, implementing patient care activities under the direction of licensed nursing personnel.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and policies, including standard/universal precautions and infection control.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and referral sources to establish a schedule for picking up and dropping off patients.
  • Participate in performance improvement, data collection, and hospital quality assessment.
Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent preferred, with at least 6 months experience working with psychiatric patients in an inpatient setting. Must be able to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions. Must work well with diverse populations and utilize Age, Disability, and Cultural Specific knowledge in working with specialized populations.

Work Environment

Subject to many interruptions and occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high-paced and stressful, requiring the ability to cope mentally and physically with the atmosphere.
