POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the accounting functions and general ledger activities of the organization.

This position is responsible for supporting the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes through account reconciliation, analysis, and journal entry preparation, along with various accounting and compliance tasks.

LAFC operates under a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of 1 to 2 in-office days weekly, with specific arrangements determined by supervisory discretion.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Analyze and reconcile general ledgers for both domestic and international operations.
2. Prepare and submit journal entries.
3. Maintain and document fixed asset records.
4. Assist in monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
5. Engage in the month-end closing process.
6. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to analyze expenditures and prepare accruals.
7. Support the annual budgeting process by managing relevant tools and templates.
8. Assist in the accounting and reporting for the Club's non-profit entity, the LAFC Foundation.
9. Contribute to the preparation of MLS-related reports, including post-game documentation.
10. Aid in the preparation of audit requests.
11. Prepare tax-related submissions.
12. Assist with ad-hoc inquiries.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.

QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution is required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
A minimum of 2+ years of experience in an accounting role is essential, with both public and private accounting experience being advantageous.
A solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), the month-end closing process, basic tax compliance, internal controls, and variance analysis is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly intermediate Excel skills (including pivots and lookups), is necessary.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for building positive relationships internally and externally.
A self-starter with motivation and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment is crucial.
Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving abilities are important.
Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) accounting software, such as Sage Intacct, is a plus.
Familiarity with California tax filings is also beneficial.

SALARY RANGE
At LAFC, we carefully evaluate a variety of factors to establish a fair and equitable compensation package.

The final compensation amount will take into account various factors including skill sets, relevant experience, and training.

In accordance with state and local pay disclosure guidelines, the overall salary range for this position is $67,000 - $75,000 annually.
