We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian Substitute to join our team at the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of our facilities.
Responsibilities:- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Clean and disinfect all restrooms, including toilets, sinks, urinals, and shower stalls
- Refurbish and stock supplies and closets as needed
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment, including vacuums and mops
- Lock and unlock buildings, offices, and classrooms as requested
- Request, maintain, and distribute needed supplies, including paper products and cleaning products
- Inspect buildings and equipment for needed repairs or replacement, and report findings to the Custodial Supervisor
- Represent the agency to the community through attendance at meetings or presentations
- Attend conferences, workshops, and other training events to enhance professional growth
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of cleaners and chemicals, operation and care of cleaning equipment, and safe work practices in routine basic custodial procedures
- Ability to lift, carry, and move individuals who are receiving services, including children, adolescents, and adults
- Ability to interact with persons who may display aggressive behaviors and/or provide special health care needs to individuals with developmental disabilities
- Strong functional skills to organize information logically, communicate clearly, analyze/solve problems, and relate effectively to people
- Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type
Work is performed primarily in an indoor activity-based setting, a vehicle, and/or an occasional community setting. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist, to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate amounts of weight, to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, including use of a computer keyboard, to operate a vehicle, and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
