Position Overview:

As a Clinical Pharmacist at SSM Health, you will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care to our patients. Your responsibilities will include verifying medication orders, compounding, and dispensing medications in strict accordance with all applicable regulations and institutional policies.

In this role, you will act as a vital resource for other healthcare professionals, including pharmacy students and residents, ensuring that patient care adheres to the highest standards of safety and efficacy.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Guarantee the safety and appropriateness of medication therapies through meticulous order verification, dispensing, medication reconciliation, chart reviews, patient consultations, lab monitoring, and necessary dose adjustments. Document all medication-related plans and interventions in the electronic medical record.
  • Provide expert clinical consultation, delivering evidence-based information to healthcare practitioners. Advocate for safe and cost-effective pharmacotherapy through collaborative efforts across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Supervise the medication dispensing process to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of optimal pharmacotherapy to patients, including oversight of pharmacy technicians and interns.
  • Mentor pharmacy students and residents as applicable.
  • Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety in all operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:
  • Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D. or Bachelor of Pharmacy) from an accredited institution.

Experience Requirements:
  • No prior experience necessary.

Physical Demands:
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Regular sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive movements of hands and arms.
  • Consistent use of vision for tasks at varying distances and to distinguish colors.
  • Regular use of hearing and speech for effective communication and to respond to alarms.
  • Frequent data entry and keyboard use.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and lifting of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing activities.

Licensure and Certifications:
  • Must hold a valid pharmacist license in the state of practice.
