We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Preoperative/PACU Registered Nurse to join our team at Surgery Partners. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care in an ambulatory surgical setting.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, develop, and implement total nursing care for preoperative patients
- Record and report symptoms, reactions, abnormalities, and changes in patient physical and mental conditions
- Administer medications and treatments ordered by physicians
- Care and discharge preoperative patients according to facility policies
- Review patient charts for accuracy and completeness
- Assemble and label personal belongings bags and assist patients with proper OR dress attire
- Administer preoperative sedation
- Function independently in emergency situations
- Maintain patient and employee privacy and confidentiality
- Provide psychological support to patients and families
- Maintain rapport with physicians and medical departments
- Maintain competence through continuing education
- Meet requirements for CEU re-licensure
- Attend all facility in-services
- Assist in orientation of new employees
- Maintain supplies and cleanliness in the work environment
- Report and label malfunctioning or broken equipment
- Work within established facility and departmental safety guidelines
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Registered Nurse License
- Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
- Knowledge of healthcare products, stock rotation procedures, storage systems, inventory supplements, preference card management, and credit
- Knowledge of medical terminology as related to healthcare products
- Knowledge of inventory control procedures
- Hands-on, self-starter with ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, and possess superior organization and communication skills
- Ability to handle large volume of detailed work accurately
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Superior leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift, and handle all supplies
- Ability to interact with coworkers, vendors, and management on a regular basis and in a pleasant and efficient manner
- Ability to perform simple mathematical functions
- Ability to perform data entry procedures and equipment and supply tracking
