Position Overview

TEKsystems is in search of a skilled Splunk Systems Administrator to join the Enterprise Network Applications Tools (ENAT) Team, supporting critical operations within the 26th Network Operations Squadron (26NOS). This role involves the stewardship of the Splunk installation, ensuring its effective integration with various systems to fulfill the mission objectives of the 26NOS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary Splunk Systems Administrator, responsible for strategizing, managing, and executing Splunk deployments across diverse enterprise networks.
  • Provide expert guidance on Splunk implementations, recommending enhancements and supporting modifications to existing deployments.
  • Oversee Indexer Clustering, Search Head Clustering, and Forwarders.
  • Continuously monitor, troubleshoot, and assess the overall health of the Splunk infrastructure, including daily indexing and search performance, data source reporting, user activity, and custom applications/dashboards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for any issues encountered, proposing both tactical and strategic solutions.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain comprehensive documentation related to Splunk architecture and operational workflows.
  • Utilize data onboarding techniques such as syslog, DB Connect, Universal Forwarder, HTTP Event Collector, and custom scripting.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of Linux, including use cases for patching, SSL toolsets, capacity planning, routing protocols, and firewall configurations.
  • Exhibit proficiency in SPL/Dashboard development to support user analytics, system performance, security, and environmental health.
  • Possess knowledge of Splunk Data Models, including their implementation, tuning, and data normalization.
  • Be familiar with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs) applicable to Non-classified or Secret Internet Protocol Router Networks.
  • Design and implement report dashboards, automated email notifications, and log data repositories tailored for various audiences, including leadership, cybersecurity personnel, and system administrators.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with Splunk products is required.
  • Experience in administering Splunk in large-scale environments, overseeing routine operations while adhering to best practices.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and SPL, along with a solid understanding of REGEX.
  • Experience in system integration and administration for Splunk users, searches/reports, dashboards, and onboarding third-party log data.
  • Support experience with Windows OS, UNIX, or Linux-based systems in mid-to-large data center environments, including patch and update management.
  • Demonstrated advanced diagnostic, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with physical servers and virtualized environments, such as VMware vSphere's vCenter Server Appliance.

Certifications:

  • Must possess one of the following DoD M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certifications to commence on contract:
  • CompTIA Security+ CE
  • CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) CE
  • (ISC)2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
  • GIAC Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)
  • GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
  • Requires one of the following Computing Environment/Operating System (CE/OS) certifications to begin on contract (Linux/Unix preferred):
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS) (Preferred)
  • LPIC-1 (Preferred)
  • Linux+ (Preferred)
  • Must obtain the following technical certification within 45 days of starting on the contract:
  • Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin

Clearance Requirement:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance is mandatory.
