Job Description

As a visiting research student supporting the Applied System Laboratory at the Georgia Tech Research Institute, your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing desktop IT support as a computer support representative (CSR)
  • Maintaining hardware and software for client/server infrastructure
  • Authoring scripts for patching and hardening compliance
  • Conducting manual and automated security reviews to remediate findings
  • Supporting events in conference rooms requiring CSR assistance
Required Minimum Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, you must:

  • Pursue a Bachelor's degree in Computer/Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or Cybersecurity
  • Be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Be a sophomore or junior
  • Be able to obtain a DoD security clearance
Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Flexibility and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • A great attitude and desire for learning new techniques or skills
  • Experience in 1 or more scripting languages
  • Previous work experience providing IT support
  • Familiarity with macOS, Linux, and open-source tools
  • Holds technical certifications (Security+, CEH, CISSP, RHCSA, etc)
  • Experience in 1 or more programming languages
  • Task/team leadership experience
  • Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
  • Familiarity with Linux and open-source tools
  • Configuration management tools
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
Hours per Week

This position requires 20 hours per week of commitment.
