About This Opportunity
We are seeking a senior reporter to cover White House economic policy, working closely with the chief economics correspondent and congressional economic policy reporter to break impactful stories and explain complex policy decisions for a general audience.
The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to work sources, distill complex ideas into big-picture analysis, and cover the full array of economic policy matters.
This position requires someone who is eager to collaborate with colleagues across the newsroom and think creatively about storytelling.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing a deep understanding of the administration's approach to economic policy
- Covering and illuminating the role of key agencies within the White House and U.S. Treasury
- Finding broader themes in economic policy that set the agenda and illuminate how policy changes affect stakeholders
- Rigorously adhering to the highest ethical standards in preparing reports
- Thinking creatively about the best format to tell stories
The successful candidate will have prior experience covering policy in Washington or elsewhere, along with demonstrated ability to work fast and write clearly on deadline.
