Job Title: Direct Support Professional

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Rappahannock Area Community Services Board. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing support and instruction to intellectually and developmentally disabled adults with complex medical or behavioral needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction and guidance to residents in daily living skills and self-care, including hygiene, eating, mobility, and communication skills.
  • Make supportive behavioral interventions to promote positive behaviors and outcomes.
  • Facilitate and support residents in volunteer, social, and leisure activities.
  • Assist residents with physician appointments and transport them via agency van.
  • Dispense and record resident medications, and physically assist residents with mobility and basic daily living activities.
  • Liaise with family members and other concerned parties on behalf of the residents.
  • Enforce observation of facility/house rules and monitor individual service plans in collaboration with residents, family members, and other service providers.
  • Observe, record, and report residents' daily progress, behaviors, and incidents.
  • Prepare individual service plan documentation and participate in housekeeping and meal preparation activities.
  • Secure the facility per policy and provide overnight awake support, assistance, monitoring, and supervision to residents.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and coursework in the Behavioral Sciences.
  • Some experience working with intellectually disabled persons.
  • Valid Virginia driver's license and certification in First Aid/CPR.
  • Training in Therapeutic Options (THEROPS).

Our residential home provides a supportive and inclusive environment for intellectually and developmentally disabled adults. As a Direct Support Professional, you will work under regular supervision and be guided by well-established agency policies and procedures.
