Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize, schedule, and direct the work of plant operating staff
  • Evaluate and monitor equipment performance
  • Uphold collective bargaining agreements
  • Delegate and assess tasks, ensuring adherence to standards

Additional Duties:

  • Engage in operational initiatives
  • Identify equipment malfunctions
  • Resolve issues related to plant or equipment failures
  • Order and manage the distribution of supplies

Qualifications:

  • In-depth understanding of equipment maintenance
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols
  • Proficient in diagnosing equipment issues
  • Capability to plan and oversee work effectively
  • Strong communication abilities

Requirements:

  • Possession of a City of Chicago Stationary Engineer's License is mandatory
  • A minimum of eight years of experience in mechanical operations is required

Promotional Criteria:

  • At least one year of service as an Assistant Chief Operating Engineer
  • Civil service status as an Assistant Chief Operating Engineer is necessary
