Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Class B Driver to join our team at Metalico. As a Class B Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently delivering and picking up containers at customer sites, while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safe Driving Practices: Abide by Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and ensure every trip is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on every truck driven daily, and report any equipment defects immediately.
  • Paperwork and Documentation: Accurately complete all required paperwork and documents daily, in accordance with Federal DOT and company regulations.
  • Load Management: Ensure proper material distribution and securing of load, and be willing to switch between different types of trucks as needed.
  • Customer Service: Provide a positive representation of the company by demonstrating safe and responsible driving practices, and communicate effectively with customers and yard staff.
  • Accident Reporting: In the event of an accident or injury, immediately report to the transportation manager and follow company procedures.
  • Vehicle Operation: Operate company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, applying knowledge and skills to navigate varying speeds and difficult situations.
  • Truck Maintenance: Monitor the truck's mechanical functions and ensure regular maintenance is performed in accordance with schedules.
Requirements
  • Class B License: Must possess a valid Class B driver's license.
  • Experience: At least 6 months of Class A or B driving experience, with 2+ years of experience preferred.
  • Clean Driving Record: Must have a clean driving record and a valid DOT physical card.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to enter and exit the truck cab using foot and handholds, and exert force for pushing and pulling, as well as stoop, bend, twist, balance, climb, crouch, and kneel.
