About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist I to join our team in Clinical Genomics. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing clinical diagnostic testing, including DNA sequence data analysis, variant curation and interpretation, and participation in new test developments and clinical research projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical diagnostic testing with a variety of tests of a moderately or highly complex nature on patient and quality control samples for molecular pathology procedures.
  • Conduct PCR procedures to detect and quantitate RNA and DNA for various genomic markers.
  • Prepare and store reagents for molecular techniques, including PCR master mix.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including computers and sequencers.
  • Review test results and consult with supervisors as needed.
  • Participate in quality assurance procedures and maintain records.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Meets basic standards and qualifications for laboratory testing personnel under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, meeting CLIA requirements for high complexity testing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices, and methods.
  • Experience with sequencing platforms and genomic analysis pipelines preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in one of the following certifications: Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, Histotechnologist, or categorical certification by Board of Certification (ASCP).
  • Experience with programming using UNIX/LINUX clusters preferred.
