About the Job

This role will provide direct support to a faculty member in a state-of-the-art research lab focused on cutting-edge pharmacological research. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the workflow of the lab and develop skills in computer-based tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist faculty with browsing and writing email
  • Support browsing through academic journals and papers
  • Take dictation for grant writing and academic papers
  • Use Adobe Illustrator to create schematics and figures for grants, papers, and talks
  • Use Adobe Dreamweaver for website upkeep
  • Visualize protein structures and create publication-quality figures using PyMOL
  • Run data through in-house Python-based analysis software
  • Build presentations using Powerpoint and figures created in other packages
Requirements
  • Must be a registered graduate student at the University of Minnesota
  • Must demonstrate fast and accurate typing skills
  • Experience with Google Suite applications, Microsoft Office applications, and University systems
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to learn on the job
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with PyMOL and Adobe Illustrator
  • Experience with academic publications, including browsing and reviewing
  • Basic understanding of biochemistry and/or biomolecular chemistry concepts and terminology
  • Experience with Python coding language
