Embedded Software Engineer

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our exceptional engineering team in Guilford, CT. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on scientific research and patient care by developing groundbreaking instruments for advanced Next Generation Sequencing.
Responsibilities:- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new applications for our Instrument suite.
- Participate in product development for existing and new products, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
- Design, implement, test, and maintain software for embedded systems, including hardware design and board bring-up.
- Work closely with verification and validation teams to build test requirements based on system software requirements and design.
- Support manufacturing through product testing and ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in embedded systems design and development.
- Proven expertise in C/C++, Java, Python, OpenCV, and Video drivers.
- Strong understanding of real-time operating systems, hardware design, and board bring-up.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities to manage responsibilities efficiently.
- Familiarity with ARM Cortex-M, PIC, AVR, or other microcontroller families.
- Knowledge of source code management and experience with Test Driven Development in an Agile environment.
- In-depth knowledge of the Linux operating system.
This position requires working in an office and laboratory environment, with occasional lifting of objects. The work environment is collaborative and dynamic, fostering innovation and creativity.
