Job Responsibilities

As a Radiologic Technologist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Starting up and shutting down X-Ray equipment.
  • Properly identifying patients and confirming ordered examinations.
  • Traveling to designated locations within assigned regions to perform X-Ray exams in the order they were received and listed on the worklist.
  • Monitoring communication venues and remaining in contact with teams at locations.
  • Preparing patients for radiological procedures and conducting X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Obtaining detailed histories from patients and noting observations made during radiologic examinations.
  • Using various radiation protection and shielding materials.
  • Ensuring radiology equipment functions properly and reporting malfunctions to the Lead Radiologic Technologist.
  • Completing radiologic procedures in EMR and notating as necessary for billing of procedures.
  • Obtaining pre-authorizations from insurance companies for CT scans.
  • Confirming X-Ray exams in PACS and ensuring reports are available in patient charts.
  • Clarifying discrepancies in radiology readings with medical providers.
  • Cleaning and stocking sites with other team members.
  • Completing all responsibilities related to the company fleet vehicle, including gassing vehicles, completing daily checklists, and logs.
  • Participating in quality control and assurance programs.

Requirements

To be successful as a Radiologic Technologist, you will need:

  • Mastery of best practice X-ray procedures and protocols.
  • Understanding of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment, including safety hazards common to radiology.

  • Capability to identify equipment issues and troubleshoot problems.
  • Capacity to apply written instructions and standardized work practices and protocols.
  • Friendly and outstanding customer service skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Education and Certification

You will need to have:

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Licenses and Certifications

In order to work as a Radiologic Technologist, you will need to have:

  • Active ARRT, ARRT (The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Certification and Registration.
  • Applicable state licensure (as required by state).
  • Active Driver's License.
