Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a skilled Histologic Technician to join our team. As a Histologic Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to fixation, processing, cutting, staining, and evaluating histology specimens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform fixation and processing of specimens to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Cut, prepare, and stain slides from histology specimens to facilitate diagnosis and treatment.
  • Prepare special stains, immunohistochemistry stains, and solutions to support diagnostic testing.
  • Conduct Quality Control on all stained slides to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Order reagents, antibodies, and tool parts to maintain a well-stocked laboratory.
  • Train new employees and students on laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Operate and evaluate equipment and reagent systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain logbooks, block and slide files to track specimen processing and results.
  • Stay updated on company policies and technical updates to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Write and update evaluation reports and procedures to document laboratory activities.

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Science with histology tech experience or Histologic Technician Certificate or Histologic Technologist Certificate.
  • Ability to perform special stains and immunohistochemical stains.
  • Knowledge of histochemical stains and special procedures.
  • Previous experience with lab information systems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude.
