Medical Records Coordinator

The Medical Records Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of patient records. This position requires a high level of organization and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication skills to interact with staff, physicians, and external parties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately and efficiently input patient data into electronic medical records.
- Process incoming faxes and electronic submissions, scanning paper documents and attaching them to patient charts.
- Copy or create electronic copies of records for external requests, following protocol and charging appropriate fees.
- Respond promptly to internal and external calls, providing access to patient records.
- Deliver documentation to clinics in a timely manner, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain relevant certifications.
- Attend organizational meetings and committees as requested.
Requirements:
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required, with previous experience in a medical office setting or with medical records preferred.
Working Conditions:
The standard work environment is an office setting, requiring prolonged sitting and computer use. Occasional bending, lifting, and reaching are necessary for file management and supply handling. Manual dexterity is required for operating office equipment, and vision and hearing must be correctable to 20/20 for telephone interactions and direct communication.
