Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a skilled Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to join our team at Trident Medical Center. As a PACU RN, you will provide high-quality patient care in the immediate post-anesthesia period, assessing, evaluating, planning, implementing, and coordinating a treatment plan to achieve the goals of the PACU department.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide prompt assessment of patients upon return from OR and/or diagnostic procedures and document findings.
  • Provide safe nursing care and a safe environment for patients and families.
  • Transcribe and implement physician orders and document all patient-related information.
  • Administer medication and IV fluids accurately and safely within nursing guidelines.
  • Update/revise plan of care as needed, based on continued assessment of patients, including providing care for patient discharge to nursing units, including transport.
  • Effectively respond and perform in emergency situations, using critical thinking skills to perceive potential problem situations and intervene to offset adverse effects.

Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is required.
  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state which you practice and/or hold an active Compact/Multi-State RN license.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required.
  • Minimum of 1-year previous experience of Nursing is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
