Position Overview

Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Clinical Nurse Specialist is tasked with orchestrating and delivering care to patients within the defined scope of practice, aiming to provide these services with compassion and expertise. The role encompasses the assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of the patient's condition, care plan, achievement of goals, and contributions to process enhancement. This position may involve offsite home visits for patients enrolled in our concierge health program as required. Experience in oncology and chemotherapy is preferred but not mandatory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform IV insertions, Port and PICC access, and phlebotomy procedures.
  • Conduct patient assessments, engage in multidisciplinary care planning, and provide comprehensive patient education focusing on pre and post-treatment follow-up, potential side effects, precautions, and self-care strategies. Reinforce education during patient consultations.
  • Ensure the safety of prescribed medication dosages and monitor patients for adverse reactions to therapies, intervening as necessary.
  • Act as a patient advocate, overseeing patient flow by reviewing laboratory results, reporting abnormal findings, and communicating patient symptoms and concerns to the attending physician promptly.
  • Document medication administration accurately and capture charges for each patient interaction.
  • Administer IV infusions and monitor patient responses.
  • Review procedures and ensure accurate charge capture for each patient visit.
  • Oversee infusion administration, hydration, and other prescribed infusions. Monitor laboratory values and alert physicians promptly regarding abnormal results and changes in patient conditions.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Current RN certification.
  • Preferred experience in oncology and chemotherapy infusion.
  • Valid license and registration to practice in the state of California.
  • ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program is preferred.
  • ONS certification.
  • A Bachelor's degree in nursing is highly preferred.
