Position Overview:

Under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, the Compounding Technician I is responsible for working in a sterile environment, compounding medications at least 50% of the time to ensure safe, precise, and efficient compounding operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prescription Compounding, Preparation, & Processing

- Assist the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medications and supplies in compliance with company policies and state regulations.

- Accurately compound medications to ensure precision.

- Perform essential pharmaceutical calculations to determine correct dosages.

- Properly label and package medications.

- Engage in the assessment, management, and reporting of medication-related incidents.

2. Site & Equipment Maintenance

- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of pharmacy surfaces and laminar flow hoods.

- Inspect equipment and document any failures or defects.

- Assist in recording and maintaining pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs.

3. Supervisory Responsibilities

- This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician.
  • Must possess a valid license or registration as required by state law.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience in delivering customer service to both internal and external clients, ensuring quality standards and evaluating customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to perform basic and intermediate mathematical calculations.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Capability to lift at least 30 lbs.

Travel Requirements:

No travel required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of the designated training course within 6 months of hire (if licensure and/or training is mandated by the state).
  • Prior experience in healthcare or as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
