Job Description

This Edgefield ICF Direct Support Professional opening is for a part-time position, 7:45am - 7:45pm EOW.

The Direct Support Professional implements an effective vocational training program for adults with disabilities and special needs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting individuals with self-help skills (e.g., toileting, eating)
  • Implementing facilitated plans
  • Monitoring individuals and completing monthly progress reports on all objectives
  • Keeping daily payroll sheets of work accomplished
  • Assisting in the evaluation and placement of individuals for various jobs
  • Supporting workshop supervisors in vocational training
  • Transporting individuals to and from Burton Center and on field trips
  • Reporting malfunctions immediately to transportation supervisors in writing
  • Supervising individuals during pre-program breaks, lunch, and special activities
  • Providing one-on-one care to individuals if required, following their plan of care
  • Attending initial Burton Center staff orientation, in-services, and workshops to enhance job performance
  • Administering medications if required

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • One-year experience in working with individuals with disabilities and special needs preferred
  • Valid SC driver's license
  • Clear oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift 25lbs frequently and 50lbs occasionally
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and squat
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods
  • Ability to drive and transport individuals, including those with wheelchairs
