Peer Tutor

The University of Saint Mary is a Roman Catholic, liberal arts university seeking a dedicated individual to support student learning in the Keleher Learning Commons.

Job Summary

As a Peer Tutor, you will assist students with reading comprehension, math, writing, research skills, and/or concepts key to the field in which you are tutoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to students in a variety of subjects, including English, math, science, and more.
• Participate in tutor training sessions to develop your skills and knowledge.
• Adhere to the Keleher Learning Commons Code of Ethics and maintain confidentiality.
• Develop and conduct presentations and skill shops on academic success-related topics.
• Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and meet deadlines for time cards and other reporting procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Recommendation from a USM faculty member.
• Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing (Freshmen may be considered on a case-by-case basis).
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
• A or B in each of the courses tutored or demonstrated knowledge of the subject.
• Ability to abide by guidelines regarding student confidentiality and strong communication and teamwork skills.
