Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Oncology team at WellSpan Health. As a Registered Nurse in our Oncology unit, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to individuals with cancer and hematologic diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Assess treatment plans and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Carry out physician orders; order lab tests, x-rays, etc., as per provider's request.
  • Prepare and administer prescribed IV medications and chemotherapy.
  • Evaluate oncology patients and plan, implement, and document nursing care.
  • Assist physician(s) during examinations and procedures.
  • Provide supportive care and administration of chemotherapy, blood components, fluid & electrolyte replacements, and other oncology treatments as prescribed.
  • Ability to access and administer medication and/or chemotherapy for patients with implanted pumps and/or caths.
  • Orders lab tests, x-rays, etc. as required per provider's orders; notify provider of abnormal results.
  • Instructs and educates patients and families regarding medications, diet, procedures, etc.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's treatment plan needs with members of the healthcare team (i.e. Social Workers).
  • Changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs.
Requirements
  • 2 years working as a Registered Nurse.
  • 2 years Hematology/oncology experience preferred.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse upon hire required.
  • Basic Life Support upon hire required.
  • Chemotherapy/Biotheraphy Provider card certification, through the Oncology Nursing Society, upon hire required.
  • OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) preferred.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with physicians, subordinates, customers, and other personnel to improve patient care outcomes.
