Machine Learning Researcher

At Genentech, we are committed to revolutionizing drug discovery with cutting-edge machine learning techniques. We are seeking a talented Senior Machine Learning Engineer to develop our Large Language Model (LLM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) product.
About the OpportunityWe are looking for someone who is passionate about technical problem-solving, has a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions in machine learning, and has extensive experience in leading and managing a team of engineers and scientists. The ideal candidate should be able to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence across the broader Genentech organization.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in cutting-edge research and development in LLMs for various internal applications.
- Develop LLMs including data engineering, pretraining, finetuning, post-training, and evaluation as well as deploy models in production environments.
- Solve core ML and engineering challenges including the design, implementation, and scaling of our data, training, and deployment pipeline.
Our group provides a dynamic and challenging environment for multidisciplinary research including access to heterogeneous data sources, close links to top academic institutions around the world, as well as collaborations with internal Genentech and Roche teams.
Requirements- Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
- 6+ years of industry experience in machine learning.
- Demonstrated success in technical capabilities deploying machine learning models in production environments or in ML/LLM research.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Extensive experience with deep learning / LLMs.
The estimated salary range for this position based on the primary location of New York is $165,200 - 306,800 per year. Benefits include relocation assistance, discretionary annual bonus, and comprehensive health insurance plan.
