South Cook Intermediate Center is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEL Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for students by providing expert guidance and professional development in the areas of mental health, social-emotional learning (SEL), and trauma-informed practices.

As an SEL Consultant, you will collaborate with school districts, educational organizations, and non-educational partners to build capacity and implement effective strategies that address the emotional and behavioral needs of students. Your expertise will help create a culture of well-being and academic success within our community.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop tailored action plans based on data collected from various sources, including the Trauma Responsive Schools Implementation Assessment (TRS-IA).
  • Design, coordinate, and facilitate engaging professional learning opportunities for educators on topics such as emotional and behavioral health, SEL, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance to schools and districts, supporting their implementation of evidence-based SEL programs and strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, fostering a collaborative network of support for student well-being.
  • Track progress towards goals and provide data-driven reports to the SEL Hub team, demonstrating the impact of your work.
Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates with a strong commitment to social-emotional learning and a passion for supporting student success. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Valid Illinois teacher licensure or social worker credentials.
  • Experience in social-emotional learning, professional development, or a similar field.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and best practices for professional development.
  • Knowledge of restorative practices, CHAMPS, or other behavioral frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
