Position Overview:
The Senior MRI Technologist is responsible for conducting MRI examinations and associated techniques, generating diagnostic images for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner. This role includes overseeing the daily operations of technical staff within the MRI department, which encompasses training, staffing, education, and performance assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Expertise in the workflows, procedures, operations, and protocols of MRI imaging technologies.
- Selects suitable MRI pulse sequences in accordance with established guidelines.
- Implements magnetic resonance safety protocols to reduce risks to patients, self, and others.
- Identifies, prepares, and administers medications as directed by a licensed practitioner.
- Collaborates with other modalities and departments under the supervision of the Radiologist.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree from an ARRT accredited institution (preferred).
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Certification and Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Diagnostic Radiology with Advanced MRI (mandatory).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, required prior to direct patient interaction).
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an MRI department (required).
- Preferred 2 years of experience in an MRI department.
- Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (preferred).
- Experience with Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) (preferred).
