Estate Planning Tax Attorney Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estate Planning Tax Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert tax advice and guidance on estate planning matters to our clients. You will have a strong background in technical tax, tax planning, and estate planning, and be able to develop and implement effective tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert advice on a variety of estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, conservatorships, and probate.
  • Preparing and reviewing complex technical tax memorandums and other legal documents related to estate planning.
  • Developing and implementing effective tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Advising clients on the tax implications of their estate planning decisions and suggesting strategies to mitigate potential tax liabilities.
  • Collaborating with other team members to ensure a comprehensive approach to client service and estate planning.
  • Staying abreast of developments in tax law and estate planning to ensure the provision of accurate and up-to-date advice to clients.
  • Handling tax disputes and negotiations with tax authorities on behalf of clients.
  • Providing guidance on the creation, administration, and termination of trusts.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estate Planning Tax Attorney or in a similar role.
  • Extensive knowledge of tax laws and regulations, estate planning, trusts, and conservatorships.
  • Proven experience in preparing technical tax memorandums and other legal documents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work.
  • Proficiency in using tax software and other relevant computer applications.
  • Membership in good standing with the state bar.
