Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and process written prescriptions, utilizing advanced dispensing systems to confirm accuracy and prevent potential medication errors;
- Maintain comprehensive medication profiles for patients, monitoring for potential drug interactions and allergies;
- Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify medication orders and ensure optimal patient care;
- Provide updated information on pharmaceutical products, including new drug availability and safety warnings;
- Utilize automated systems to manage pharmaceutical inventory and ensure timely dispensing of medications;
- Ensure all medications are correctly labeled, with clear instructions for use and dosage;
- Oversee the secure storage and proper disposal of pharmaceuticals, adhering to safety regulations;
- Dispense controlled substances while maintaining accurate inventory records in compliance with legal requirements;
- Conduct regular audits of medication storage areas to ensure compliance with safety standards;
- Prepare intravenous solutions and other complex medications using aseptic techniques;
- Supervise the preparation of medications by support staff, ensuring adherence to established guidelines;
- Monitor patients receiving IV therapy, updating records as necessary;
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment;
- Manage investigational drug protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards;
- Educate patients on the proper use of medications;
- Compound various pharmaceutical preparations and maintain accurate records;
- Prepare reports and conduct medication reviews as required;
- Participate in the training and development of pharmacy interns and other healthcare professionals;
- Stay informed on advancements in pharmacology through ongoing education and professional development.
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a pharmacist role.
Education: Bachelor's or Doctorate in Pharmacy is required, with a recommendation for completion of a pharmacy residency program.
Licenses/Certifications: Must possess a valid New York State Pharmacist license and current registration.
