Your responsibilities will include the comprehensive redesign of a global enterprise network, providing engineering and transition support for diverse customer network requirements.
This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the transition of essential operations to a contemporary service provider network architecture.
Key Responsibilities:- Interpret customer needs and apply standardized design methodologies for effective service delivery.
- Document designs thoroughly, including diagrams, bill of materials, cabling sheets, configurations, and additional supporting documents.
- Utilize our private testing laboratory to assess new technologies, validate proposed changes to production networks, and simulate troubleshooting scenarios to enhance the production enterprise network.
- Schedule maintenance windows to facilitate the migration of user connections from legacy systems to modern infrastructure transition services, ensuring minimal disruption to critical data flows.
- Provide technical guidance to Operations engineers and technicians, assisting in fault isolation and resolution.
- Develop innovative and scalable solutions to complex problems.
- Create secure network designs that comply with Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and enterprise policies.
- Obtain Authority to Operate (ATO) for new devices, software, and capabilities.
- Supervise other network support specialists in planning, coordinating, and implementing network services.
- Enhance design products, processes, and systems to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Although the primary focus is on CAN/LAN, this position offers opportunities to learn and engage with Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Wide Area Networks (WANs).
Required Qualifications:- A minimum of 16 years of experience, which may include a combination of education and work history. This could equate to a doctorate with 8 years of experience, a master's with 10 years, a bachelor's with 12 years, an associate's with 14 years, or a high school diploma with 16 years.
- Compliance with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 (Security+ CE) is mandatory.
- Experience in network engineering, including Tier III or higher network operations and/or network design and implementation.
- Prior experience with production network hardware configurations for Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper.
- Hands-on experience with standard routing protocols in a production environment, such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) or Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
- Proficiency in implementing and troubleshooting standard switching and trunking protocols in a production network, including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), 802.1q, and port-channels.
- An active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph is required.
Desired Qualifications:- Experience in network engineering and design specific to CAN/LAN, including the application of industry standards, configuration development, and solution integration into production environments.
- Familiarity with MPLS WANs, network management tools, and firewalls.
- Expert knowledge of routing and switching protocols, with the ability to demonstrate expertise through presentations and documentation. Extensive BGP experience is a plus.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent knowledge.
- Initiative and discipline to work independently as part of a network engineering team. Experience in establishing processes, developing documentation, and organizing repositories is advantageous.
