Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Medical University of South Carolina. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in performing a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests, preparing specimens for examination or testing procedures, and operating automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of diagnostic medical lab tests, including routine and specialized tests, according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Prepare specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Operate automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment, maintaining high levels of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Conduct quality control and assurance procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of lab results.
  • Record lab results in a specified system, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

Requirements

  • An associate degree in clinical laboratory technology.
  • Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Certifying agency (NCA).
  • Registry eligibility and successful certification within the first year of employment.
