Marine Shipfitter

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Marine Shipfitter to join our team at Tradesmen International. As a Marine Shipfitter, you will be responsible for laying out and fabricating metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and bracing them into position within the hull of a ship for riveting or welding.

Key Responsibilities:

* Layout and fabricate metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and brace them into position within the hull of a ship for riveting or welding
* Lay out position of parts on metal using scribe and hand tools
* Locate and mark reference points, such as center, buttock, and frame lines
* Position parts in hull of ship, assisted by rigger
* Align parts in relation to each other, using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls
* Mark location of holes to be drilled and install temporary fasteners to hold part in place for welding or riveting
* Install packing and gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips
* Prepare molds and templates for fabrication of non-standard parts
* Tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding
* Roll, bend, flange, cut, and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts, using shop machinery, such as plate rolls, presses, bending brakes, and joggle machines

Requirements:

* Able to read blueprints or templates
* Tools for the trade
* Proper PPE
* OSHA 10 is preferred
