Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part-Time Staff Nurse for East Jersey State Prison, located in Rahway, NJ. The Staff Nurse will utilize the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of the inmate patient.
  • Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern, and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.
  • Attends appropriate in-services and continuing education offerings to obtain and maintain necessary skills.
  • Participates in offering education to inmates, security officers, and other members of the health care team.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Nursing license in New Jersey.
  • Valid drivers license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or its equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a correctional setting preferred.
