Job Overview

Immediate Opening for a Yard Hostler

We are seeking a skilled Yard Hostler to join our team at EFP Staffing.

Position Details:

This role involves working 3-4 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the movement of trailers between the yard and the loading dock efficiently.
  • Ensure the yard is well-organized and maintained.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks of trailers on-site.
  • Assist in warehouse operations as required.
  • Perform daily inspections of the switcher truck and report any maintenance needs.
  • Check trailer lights, tires, and licensing for compliance.
  • Communicate with the transportation manager regarding necessary repairs.
  • Verify the accuracy of loads at the dock and ensure proper securing of cargo.
  • Document drum counts on bills of lading accurately.
  • Provide updates to management regarding yard conditions and assist with clean-up activities.
  • Guide and assist customers and carriers during off-loading processes.
  • Monitor trailer positions in the yard and optimize space utilization.
  • Collaborate with the production supervisor to coordinate inbound trailers and staging for production.
  • Support trailer loading and unloading operations (training will be provided).

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support the loading dock and receiving areas when additional assistance is required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient truck driving skills (CDL not required).
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous truck driving experience is necessary.

This is a TEMP-HIRE POSITION.
