Job Title: School Bus Driver

Bound Brook School District is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious School Bus Driver to transport students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities, the School Bus Driver will ensure the safe transportation of passengers by following established routes, schedules, and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive a school bus on designated routes, adhering to time schedules and loading/unloading students at designated locations.
  • Transport students, teachers, and others on school field or activity trips.
  • Inspect the bus daily to ensure it is in good working order, clean, and safe for passengers.
  • Clean and refuel the bus as needed.
  • Ensure a communication device is in proper working order before each trip.
  • Report any mechanical deficiencies, traffic violations, or accidents promptly.
  • Arrange for and ensure completion of routine maintenance of the bus.
  • Maintain order and discipline among students being transported, adhering to district policies and procedures.
  • Observe and track route timing to establish efficiency.
  • Submit records and reports as required.
  • Follow procedures to ensure no child is left alone on the bus without adult supervision.
Requirements
  • Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL), class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsement.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's (DMV) License.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bilingual, both oral and written, ability (English/Spanish) is preferred.
  • Successful prior experience working as a bus driver, preferably in a school district or transporting children.
Working Conditions

The School Bus Driver will work in a standard school bus environment, with occasional travel to vehicle service stations, field trip locations, and other destinations.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of all traffic laws, regulations, road signs, and related information, as well as manual dexterity, visual and auditory acuity, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
