Requirements

  • Valid General Law Enforcement Certification from the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards.
  • 2 years of experience in law enforcement or public safety, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work independently and respond calmly in complex, stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local criminal statutes and case law.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain NC General Law Enforcement Certification.
  • Ability to pass rigorous background check, polygraph, and/or psychological testing.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to hear clearly and communicate clearly with others.
  • Ability to run, and exert intense physical effort in moving, controlling, or restraining combative subjects.
  • Possess close and intermediate visual acuity.
  • Spends majority of time standing or walking with a reasonable amount of bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
  • May be exposed to unfavorable weather conditions.
  • Exposed to hazardous work conditions and combative subjects.
