Position Overview:
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) plays a pivotal role in evaluating selected patients within the assigned healthcare service.

The ANP conducts comprehensive physical assessments, engages with patients both in-person and through telecommunication, collaborates with departmental colleagues to ensure a seamless patient care experience, and actively participates in the overall management of patient care.

The ANP reports directly to the Chief of the designated service and the Department Manager.

Key Responsibilities:


Operates under the established protocols for the ANP role, adhering to Kaiser Permanente policies and the regulations set forth by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Conducts thorough assessments of patients, including detailed history taking and physical examinations in line with departmental guidelines.


Engages in systematic assessment/data collection, focusing on physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive aspects; emphasizes patient/family education, involvement, and advocacy.

Consults with supervising physicians or other healthcare professionals as necessary based on patient assessments and needs.


Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure effective patient care aligned with quality standards for those served in the designated area.

Reviews patient medical records for follow-up or ordering of diagnostic tests as per established protocols.


Maintains effective communication with other healthcare providers and departments to promote operational efficiency and ensure continuity of care.

Fosters strong working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and their families, respecting staff rights and cultural and ethical beliefs.

Delegates tasks appropriately and coordinates the activities of healthcare team members, assessing the effectiveness of care provided by team members.

Exhibits knowledge of and adheres to safety principles as outlined by the institution. Responds efficiently in emergency situations, following established protocols, remaining composed, notifying relevant personnel, and documenting events.

Takes responsibility and accountability for personal professional practice. Engages regularly in professional development activities for unit and departmental staff.

Demonstrates understanding of legal considerations, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit operations.

Participates in unit and departmental Performance Improvement initiatives. Involves in nursing research activities as requested. Identifies and resolves issues effectively.

Embraces a service-oriented philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing technology and telecommunication tools to document, track, and communicate information.

If functioning in a specialized role, meets the expectations set for that specific position.

Undertakes other related responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications:
Experience

A minimum of 6 months of experience as a nurse practitioner.


Two (2) years of experience (within the last three (3) years) as an NP providing specialized care in an emergency department or urgent care environment.

Education

Master's Degree in Nursing (unless already a Kaiser Permanente employee who was grandfathered in prior to California Business and Professions Code requirement).

Completion of a Master's Program in Family Practice NP or Acute Care NP is required.

If only caring for a specific patient population of adults or pediatrics, then Acute Adult NP or Acute Pediatric NP is required.

Additional Requirements:
Must fulfill credentialing criteria established for nurse practitioners within the Kaiser system (Master's Degree in Nursing and National Certification from recognized organizations).

Candidates must meet the requirements to apply for PTAN (Provider Transaction Account Number) at the time of hire and apply within 30 days of hire.
