Key Responsibilities
As a Certified Hand Rehabilitation Specialist, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality hand therapy services to patients and their families, adhering to the principles of occupational therapy and the policies of OrthoAlaska.
  • Assist in the daily operations of the Hand Therapy clinic, ensuring efficient workflow and patient care.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, oversee assistants and aides, and contribute to comprehensive case management.
  • Maintain positive interactions with clients to enhance relationships with OrthoAlaska facilities and staff.

Essential Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong teamwork capabilities and leadership skills to effectively guide staff and aides in delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and planning abilities.
  • Proficient clinical problem-solving skills with the capacity to identify and prioritize issues effectively.
  • A demonstrated ability to create and implement innovative action plans that yield positive outcomes.

Core Duties
Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating, treating, and advancing care for upper-extremity patients in accordance with state guidelines and professional standards.
  • Maintaining clear communication with referring providers regarding treatment protocols and patient progress.
  • Collaborating with the Lead Hand Therapist to uphold rehabilitation protocols and manage clinic resources.
  • Overseeing daily schedules, ensuring timely completion of patient documentation and billing processes.
  • Supervising students and maintaining a clean and organized therapy environment.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the Lead Hand Therapist or Therapy Services Director.

Knowledge and Skills Required
The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • The physical capability to lift patients using appropriate techniques and to perform various physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Visual acuity necessary for evaluating patient needs and maintaining accurate records.
  • Effective communication skills to provide clear directions and understand patient requirements.
  • Fine motor skills for accurate documentation and handling of therapeutic equipment.

Required Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • A degree from an accredited occupational therapy or physical therapy program.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a Certified Hand Therapist.
  • A valid license to practice in Alaska, in good standing.
