Fabrication Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Fabrication Specialist to join our team at ERMCO-ECI Antioch. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, modifying, designing, and repairing machinery and equipment as directed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Update project lists with management and coordinate schedules of individual projects
- Participate in designing new and modifying existing equipment and machinery
- Produce prints and drawings as required
- Ensure all phases of fabrication are being performed effectively
- Identify and solve any problems with equipment or personnel
- Build new machinery, equipment, and fixtures, and rebuild and refurbish equipment as needed
- Paint new and refurbished equipment
- Operate fabrication equipment, machines, and tools
- Maintain open communication with maintenance and warehouse to ensure project schedules are met
- Ensure consistent and maximum throughput while maintaining quality
- Ensure that product loss and scrap are kept to a minimum
- Maintain raw material and supply inventories, and notify purchasing when items need to be ordered
- Train new hires as well as long-term employees on proper equipment use
- Communicate with maintenance and production to meet fabrication needs
- Comply with and enforce all company policies and procedures
- Keep plant fabrication/tool area organized and clean at all times
Requirements:
- Knowledge of fabrication systems, processes, and equipment
- Knowledge of welding processes and equipment
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and machine design
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, prints, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Skills in welding (MIG and TIG), plasma cutting, lathe and mill setup/operation, ironworker, shears, punch and dies, fabrication tools and processes, and use of measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Ability to understand technical concepts such as mechanical movement, forces, and design
- Ability to work with fellow employees from different teams
- Ability to oversee projects and due dates
- Ability to start and maintain project timelines
- Ability to effectively communicate with others
- Ability to problem solve and attention to detail
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 3+ years of MIG welding experience
- 3+ years' experience in machine fabrication and design operations; or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities
