Job Summary

Under general supervision, transports District pupils to and from school and special events, performs daily inspections and maintains the District vehicle in a clean and orderly condition, and performs related duties as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive a district vehicle over assigned routes in accordance with an established time schedule, picking up and discharging students
  • Transport students safely to and from school and other school-sponsored events
  • May transport children with special needs
  • Adhere to State laws, District policies, and safety procedures regarding student discipline and public contact with parents, school personnel, and community members
  • Follow and implement student behavior plans, maintaining student discipline
  • Sweep and clean the interior and exterior of the District vehicle
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports on mileage, number of students transported, and condition of District vehicle
  • Report problems or equipment malfunctions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Valid Class A or Class C California Motor Vehicle Operator's License
  • Clear driving record to be insured and continue to be insurable by the District's liability insurance carrier
  • Education equivalent to graduation from the 12th grade
  • Minimum one year experience driving with a Class C license and experience with driving a 10-passenger vehicle
  • Experience working with special need students preferred
Working Conditions

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms and speak and hear effectively. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
