The City of Edinburg is seeking a skilled Sanitation Worker to perform routine preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and facilities. This role is essential to the city's operations, and the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient collection of waste.
Key Responsibilities- Operate assigned equipment in a safe, correct, and efficient manner, following rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and checks on equipment as assigned.
- Enforce all site user regulations, directing site users to proper disposal areas according to waste type and observing surrounding conditions.
- Regulate traffic in hazardous conditions to assure safe conditions for collection personnel and the general public.
- Respond to emergencies and provide related work assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current valid class 'C' driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the city's expense.
- Competitive pay of $12.61/hr.
