Clinical Laboratory Technologist (I, II, and Senior)

Department Overview: Our laboratory is expanding, and we are actively looking for Clinical Laboratory Technologists at various levels for specialized departments including Chemistry, Hematology, Special Chemistry, Immunology, and Flow Cytometry. These roles are specifically tailored to departmental needs.

Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Dayshift from 10am to 6:30pm, Tuesday through Saturday.

Position Summary:

We are in search of a skilled and enthusiastic Clinical Laboratory Technologist to become part of our Icon Central Laboratory team. In this capacity, you will be instrumental in supporting our clinical research initiatives by performing laboratory tests, analyzing results, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carefully operate laboratory equipment in accordance with established protocols; maintain automation equipment as per standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct necessary equipment checks, performance evaluations, preventive maintenance, and quality control as per laboratory guidelines.
  • Ensure the precision of all tests by following the laboratory's Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for assay tracking and results for review and reporting.
  • Complete proficiency testing in assigned laboratory sections.
  • Adhere to unidirectional specimen handling to prevent contamination.
  • Exhibit strong laboratory and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and efficiently.

Laboratory Techniques:

We utilize advanced platforms such as Automated Chemistry with Abbott instrumentation, and our Special Chemistry department employs EIA and RIA instrumentation, along with equipment from Roche, Siemens, and Optilite. For Automated Hematology, we utilize Siemens, Novus, and Stago platforms.

Specialty Testing:

Beyond basic safety testing, we offer a wide array of specialty tests tailored to client and protocol requirements. Our Flow Cytometry utilizes BD FACSCantoII and BD FACSymphony platforms for high-parameter research. In Immunology, we employ various platforms for nucleic acid amplification technologies, autoimmune panels, and ELISA testing.

Qualifications:

  • New York State license as a Medical Laboratory Scientist is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related field is preferred.
  • ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and quality control processes.
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory or research environment is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential.
