Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse is a vital member of our Primary Care Associates of Appleton LTD team, providing exceptional patient care in an office setting. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for performing and assisting the physician with patient care, managing patient telephone calls, scheduling, and coordinating care. This role requires a strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet and escort patients to exam rooms
Room patients for provider exams, utilizing established rooming standards
Obtain and document patient information, including vital signs, height, weight, medications, history, symptoms, etc.
Administer medications, including injections, as ordered by the provider
Instruct patients regarding preparation for tests and procedures
Clean and stock work areas, including instrument cleaning and sterilization
Manage patient telephone calls appropriately
Call patients to relay information, obtain information, share test results, and provide advice/direction from the provider
Manage requests for prescriptions and medication refills, following provider guidelines
Schedule special procedures and appointments
Assess and schedule appointments for patients needing same-day appointments
Refer complex patient questions/situations to an RN or provider
Advise patients using accepted clinical information when provider input is not needed
Monitor laboratory, x-ray, ECG results, and other pertinent medical data under provider guidance
Complete referrals using accepted standards
Handle incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring the provider sees all necessary information

Requirements:

Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid, unrestricted LPN license in the State of Wisconsin
Current BLS for healthcare certification
Excellent knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy
Pleasant and effective communication skills
Ability to work well with all customers of Primary Care Associates
Ability to prioritize and work efficiently
Ability to function as a part of a team with a cooperative attitude
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills
Flexibility in work schedule

Work Environment:

This role requires working in a fast-paced office environment, with frequent exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds independently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used include POCT machines (Cepheid; Glucometer).
