Job Title: Anesthesia Registered Veterinary Technician

Are you interested in working in a fast-paced specialty and emergency hospital? We are seeking an Anesthesia Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team at Ethos Veterinary Health.

About the Role:
  • Perform pre-anesthesia examinations to determine safety and risk for surgery cases.
  • Implement prescribed anesthesia plans for cases, from pre-anesthesia through recovery, including monitoring throughout.
  • Perform patient pain assessments and develop proposed analgesic plans for cases using multimodal pain management techniques.
  • Understand and use CASE anesthesia forms in Smartflow and EZ Vet.
  • Set up and troubleshoot anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment.
  • Competency in understanding anesthesia machine maintenance programs.
  • Proficiency in implementing prescribed analgesic plans for anesthesia cases using local, systemic, and regional pain management techniques.
  • Demonstrate the ability to set up, maintain equipment, and identify normal and abnormal ECG readings.
  • Understand the hemodynamics of anesthesia-related hypotension and possess the ability to troubleshoot anesthesia complications.
  • Familiarity with commonly used vasopressor therapy and when to implement during anesthesia procedures.
  • Ability to set up and maintain a vasopressor CRIT: No repinephrine, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Vasopressin, Epinephrine.
  • Proficiency in accurately evaluating a patient's ventilation, oxygenation, and acid/base status utilizing pulse oximetry, capnography, and arterial blood gas results.
  • On-call expectations: Maintain rotation with the anesthesia on-call program.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Ability to communicate well with other CASE staff members.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and produce quality work while making effective decisions.
