About the Position

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Medic Response Coordinator to join our team. As a Medic Response Coordinator, you will provide comprehensive care and treatment determination to patients in the community. You will be responsible for high-level decision making, authority, and supervision as it pertains to patient care, treatment, and transport.

This is a new, full-time pilot opportunity with the city. The pilot will run for up to two years. Upon successful completion, you may be invited to apply for the position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties commensurate with emergency response operations and may be assigned to an Incident Command System (ICS) position consistent with demonstrated/certified abilities.
  • Assist with the continued improvement of the Alternative Response Medic (ARM) program.
  • Perform daily operations of the ARM program.
  • Respond to emergency medical incidents, determine the nature and extent of the emergency, and coordinate with other emergency responders on treatment and transport.
  • Respond to non-emergency medical incidents, determine the nature and extent of the situation, and make a treatment and/or transport decision based on assessment findings, protocols, and medical direction.
  • Gather data and prepare incident reports, complete other written reports and records.
  • Maintain data on high-frequency users to assist with care, treatment, transport, and education determination.
  • Coordinate with department leadership, Public Health Officials, Community Health Practitioners, and other community advocates and stakeholders on community education, patient referrals, etc., as necessary.
  • Engage in community outreach efforts to identify at-risk populations and address public health concerns by connecting patients with appropriate medical, behavioral health, or social support services.
  • Collaborate with other departments, agencies, and organizations to deliver community health-type services.
  • As a member of a paramedic assist unit (PAU), respond to emergency medical incidents and may perform advanced life support (ALS) treatments, interventions, and procedures as allowed by current protocols signed by the Medical Director.
  • May be responsible for the clinical direction of St. Louis Park Fire Department personnel while on the scene of a medical call.
  • Maintain licensing and certification requirements for this position along with continuing education as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota driver's license, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a paramedic - recent and relevant experience in a public or private EMS organization.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited two-year college or technical school in EMS or a related field.
  • Current Minnesota paramedic certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
