As a key member of the Rutland Regional Medical Center team, the Respiratory Therapist II provides high-quality patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating respiratory plans of care. This role requires a strong understanding of respiratory care assessment and mechanical ventilation management, as well as the ability to administer surfactants to newborns and work with respiratory equipment, including Heliox.

Education and Experience

  • Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy from a CoARC-accredited program.
  • At least 6 months of experience as a Respiratory Therapist at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Current Vermont State license.
  • BLS Certification through the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • Registration as a Respiratory Therapist (not applicable to therapists hired prior to 12/31/03).
  • Completion of Cardiac Dysrhythmia course (Stress Testing Therapist).
  • Completion of STABLE.

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic EKG interpretation skills.
  • Working knowledge of respiratory equipment and Heliox.
  • Ability to administer surfactants to newborns.
  • Ability to perform cardiac stress tests.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Able to lead shifts in absence of leadership.

Compensation

  • Pay range: $39.98.
  • Hiring bonus agreement: $10,000.00.
  • Competitive differentials: $4.25 (evenings), $8.00 (nights), $4.75 (weekends).
