Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg Assistant to join our team at North Mississippi Health Services in West Point, Mississippi.

About the Role
  • Perform routine patient care tasks within an assigned unit under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Assist with patient care plans by providing and/or assisting with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, mobility, and comfort.
  • Coordinate daily patient care activities on the nursing unit to ensure efficient and effective care.
  • Assist nursing staff to facilitate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Perform a variety of duties within and in support of assigned unit as delegated by nursing staff.
Inventory Control and Management
  • Order, stock, and replenish unit supplies and necessary equipment in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Participate in identifying unit financial responsibility during budget preparation.
  • Assist with keeping unit within its budget restraints.
  • Facilitate unit communication, including telephones, intercom systems, call light systems, and computers.
Customer Service and Communication
  • Welcome visitors to the unit by greeting them, answering questions, giving directions, and referring inquiries to nursing staff.
  • Answer telephone calls and direct them to the appropriate department or staff member.
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and healthcare team.
Professional Standards and Confidentiality
  • Document care provided using worksheets and/or the electronic medical record.
  • Adhere to professional standards, behavioral standards, and hospital policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality by protecting personal healthcare information of all patients.
