Job Summary

The Maintenance Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining the physical integrity of our communities, working closely with the Maintenance Director to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementing a preventative maintenance program for facility equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain the grounds, including outside community repairs, lawn maintenance, and garbage removal, to create a welcoming and well-manicured environment.
  • Ensure the inside of the community, offices, and common areas are clean, neat, and comfortable, including carpet and furniture cleaning, window cleaning, painting, and trash removal.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee to identify and mitigate potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare apartments for move-in and complete refurbishing after move-out, including painting and minor repairs.
  • Perform janitorial tasks and minor repairs as needed to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Education or experience sufficient to meet position requirements or as required by State regulations.
  • Meets all mandatory health requirements by state regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to relate positively and communicate effectively with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other employees.
  • Has compassion and a special interest in working with seniors.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to report to the community as needed to handle maintenance emergencies and act in an on-call status for emergencies.
  • Ability to work safely and recognize potentially dangerous situations.
  • Ability to work on a ladder and perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Pass a criminal background and fingerprint check.
