Job Title: Bark & Zoom Dog Trainer

The Professional Dog Trainer is a key role within our team at Bark n Zoom, reporting directly to the General Manager. We embody the mission of Pet Lovers Delighting Pet Lovers, demonstrating this through being Playful, Passionate, Personal, and Professional. A successful candidate for this position will be someone who not only embraces this culture but is a team player, self-motivated, takes direction well, has excellent communication skills, and great attention to detail.

A Day in the Life:

This role is incredibly rewarding. Daily, you'll have the opportunity to train new dogs, from puppies to dogs in need of a refresher. You'll work closely with their owners to understand their goals and concerns. You'll spend time observing behaviors, solving mysteries, and crafting personalized training plans to address their needs. You'll also have the chance to educate and train the owners themselves, ensuring they're equipped to support their pets' development.

Responsibilities:
  • Train assigned dogs daily, utilizing positive reinforcement techniques
  • Develop and implement customized training plans to address client concerns
  • Meet with clients to discuss training expectations and progress
  • Provide enrichment activities for training dogs
  • Document and communicate the dog's behavior and training status to clients
  • Adhere to LIMA (least intrusive, minimally aversive) training standards and use positive reinforcement methods
  • Run preset class curricula or develop new ones as needed
  • Maintain the highest standards of education in dog training
  • Conduct group and private lessons
  • Assist with additional training sessions, including virtual training
  • Consult with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Grow business by making recommendations to current pet owners
  • Create engaging content for social media
Work Environment:

You'll need to be adaptable, flexible, and able to work in a variety of settings, including indoors and outdoors.

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Operant and Classical Conditioning as it pertains to dog training
  • 1-2 years of experience in animal training or equivalent education
  • Knowledge and understanding of dog behavior, breed characteristics, and individual needs
  • CCPDT Certification or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
